Music Appreciation is a course guided by a textbook, education, experience, inspiration, encompassing history, theory, performance, education and therapy. We will discuss the history of music, drawing on insights from the stage to the cathedral, the dive bar to the spotlight, and the classroom to the field. Aspects of music performance, history, theory, education, composition and therapy will be intertwined like the fabric of a polyphonic composition. Presented By...
Kevin Burns is a Doctor of Musical Arts and a native of Westfield, Massachusetts where he graduated from Westfield High School. Starting with piano lessons as a child, Dr. Burns added saxophone and voice in high school and went on to study at UMass and LSU. Dr. Burns has taught in public and private schools, community colleges and universities and has performed with symphonies, choirs, bands and popular recording artists.
