Multicolor Block Printing
$25.00
GCC Main Campus
In stock
Learn to block print a multicolored image! We will start with designing on paper, carving a rubber block, then applying the jigsaw method to cut the blocks into several pieces to print multicolored images on printmaking paper. Take home your blocks to print more images in the future. This is a great technique to employ for making cards or other stationary. For experienced block printers or beginners!
This class will be printing on paper, but if you have experience and would like to print on textiles instead there will be supplies for doing that if you want to bring your own textiles to print on! 100% cotton and cotton blends are perfect for printing on, as well as other natural fabrics like linen and hemp (as long as it is a tight weave) and canvas. Avoid novelty fabrics (fur, highly textured, etc.), polyester, as well as spandex and Lycra.
You can bring in a design to carve—you just need to print in black toner with a LASER printer (not inkjet) and the design should be smaller than 4x6 inches. We will go over how to transfer printed images onto blocks as well. Recommended for people who are familiar with block printing, or with an idea of how you'd like to split your image up for multicolor printing.
