Join the WaitlistDrawing from Martha Gellhorn’s writings, Jarice Hanson will portray a picture of the acerbic war reporter and third wife of Ernest Hemingway—and the only wife to walk out on him. During WWII she was the only woman reporter on the beach at Normandy on D-Day, and the first to witness the horror of Dachau. After the monolog, audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of both “Gellhorn” and Hanson.

Jarice Hanson is Professor Emerita in the Department of Communication at UMass-Amherst. She is also a proud member of the AEA and SAG actors’ unions and has written and performed stories of women who deserve to be known. She has been performing her solo show “Frances Perkins: A Woman’s Work,” nationally.
