Open to community members as well as GCC students, faculty, staff and alumni (see below for discounted price). Several performances are held both on and off campus each semester during noon and weekend/evening time blocks announced by the second rehearsal. Rehearsals are both serious and fun! Music includes a variety of choral works drawn from classical and other styles. Vocal development, sight reading, languages, and background material are all part of the experience. An ability to carry a tune and a commitment to the rehearsal and performance schedule are the only requirements.

About the Presenter

Margery Heins holds a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.M. in conducting from Temple University. Currently she is a teacher of private voice lessons at both GCC and at her home studio, and she directs the Choir at First Congregational Church of Ashfield. Heins was the conductor of the GCC Chorus from 2001 to 2020, and is also known in the Pioneer Valley for her direction of the Recital Chorus as well as past concerts with the Greenfield Chamber Singers and children’s choruses. She has enjoyed singing her entire life, and is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the American Guild of Organists.
