A punchy, straightforward guide to escaping the “Western diet” and its health pitfalls. Eschewing complex nutritional data, Pollan offers sixty-four simple maxims centered on three core pillars: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” He teaches readers to identify “real food” by avoiding processed items with unpronounceable ingredients or health claims. The book emphasizes quality over quantity and traditional wisdom over clinical science. By focusing on how we eat—socially and moderately—as much as what we eat, Pollan provides a sustainable, common-sense roadmap for navigating the modern supermarket and reclaiming personal health.
