Swing Out! An Intro to Lindy Hop

Lindy Hop is a partner dance that was created in Harlem in the 1930’s and grew up with the swinging jazz of the era. It is considered to be one of the original forms of swing dance, from which many others were developed. This course is designed to get you comfortable with the foundational moves of Lindy Hop and give you the skills to dance Lindy Hop in a social dance setting. No partner is necessary. We do recommend you have a pair of shoes that can slide relatively freely on the dance floor.

Christine LeBel and partner Mark met in swing dance classes in southern California many years ago and have been lucky enough to take lessons from some of the original swing dancers and many of the top dancers of the modern era. They are two of the original founders of the Lindy League of Western Massachusetts (which offers regular dance events at which they have taught for many years) and they particularly love teaching people new to the swing-dance scene.
