In-Person

In a series of four workshops, Abdou covers four dances from Senegal, West African. Each dance is a fusion of traditional and modern movements, and has a celebratory and joyful feeling. Dancers dance to a live sabar, djembe and djun djun drums, as well as some recorded music. We'll dance a Welcome Dance, Harvest Dance, Wedding Dance and dances for a baby's naming ceremony. All of these are Sabar dances from the multi-ethnic country, popular in the daily life and rhythms of Senegal.
