Loretta Yarlow became Director of UMCA in 2005 after serving as Director of Exhibitions at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and Manhattan; Director of the Art Gallery of York University, Toronto; Curator of the ICA Boston; and guest curator at the Vienna Kunsthalle. She was Commissioner of the Canadian Pavilion at the 1997 Venice Biennale. At UMass Yarlow offers internships and behind-the-scenes training to students interested in the museum profession. She received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and an Ed.M. from Harvard University.
